CELEBRATE HISTORY IN OCTOBER WITH THE TRUMBULL LIBRARY

AND THE TRUMBULL HISTORICAL SOCIETY

Trumbull, CT – September 15, 2009 - October is Trumbull’s birthday month! In celebration, the Trumbull Library System and the Trumbull Historical Society are co-sponsoring events throughout October.

Become Your Own History Detective! Dig Up the Dirt on Your Past with Ancestry.com!, Wednesday, October 7 from 9:30 to 11:00AM, in Trumbull Library's Community Room. Library staff members Rick Roof and Walter Dembowski will give a lecture-demonstration introducing the genealogy database Ancestry.com: Library Edition. Join “The Historical Mystery Tour” and Grand Re-Opening of Trumbull Historical Society’s Museum, Sunday, October 18 from 1:00 to 4:00PM. Come and learn about Trumbull’s History with Bus Tours of Historic Nichols. The Trumbull Historical Society will present a new exhibit about life in Colonial New England! Free Crafts for kids! Space is limited on the 45-minute bus tours so advance registration requested with the Historical Society at 377-6620. Donations suggested.

I Remember When… A Family History Writing Workshop with Carla Achebe! Saturday, October 24 at 2:00PM in Trumbull Library’s Community Room. Workshop director, Carla Achebe, has been helping others to prepare their memoirs for over 20 years. Grandparents, if you don’t tell them who will? She has produced numerous memoirs and biographies on video for families. Learn the process of how to document your life. How did Connecticut become the “Nutmeg State”? Find out with author, Diana Ross McCain, It Happened in Connecticut, Sunday, October 25 at 2:00PM in Trumbull Library’s Community Room. Ms. McCain, a historian from Durham, Connecticut, will present her book of twenty true stories from the Nutmeg State—including how it got its nickname. Ms. McCain will discuss her book, various topics, and sign copies of her book at the end. Copies of the books will be available for purchase. Refreshments will be served.
